The original house is constructed from robust brick whilst the new interventions on the site retain the appearance of the existing building, and introduce steel and glass windows and doors to bring in natural light and air. This provides a feeling of lightness and allows a sense of calm that flows through the interior. A deep connection with the garden underpins this project, and the backyard alfresco encourages movement between inside and out. In blurring the lines between old and new, Ara&Tang ensures the foundations are set for the future.
